Hi guys!
So I’m reviewing another popular product that practically everyone and their mummies were using in 2017, the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder.
In this post, I’ll also be comparing it to other powders I own.
Sit tight, it’s about to be a fun ride!
Product Description
BUTTERCUP is the AMAZON #1 Best-Seller in face powder and is ideal for medium to dark skin tones. BUTTERCUP LIGHT is recommended for light to medium skin tones. They can be used to highlight, set/bake your concealer or as an all-over face powder. They do not give off a white cast or turn ashy in bright lighting or photos. They absorb oil, reduce shine and keep your face matte for hours.
Review
This setting powder comes in a traditional jar with a sieve. Personally, I don’t feel it is very travel-friendly as the contents can spill when in transit. But that’s just me.
This powder comes in a bright yellow shade which is so beautiful and will suit a variety of skin tones.
It is so finely milled and sets concealer so well. I use it for setting the highlighted parts of my face and it gives a matte finish that is not flat, so people with oily skin will really like this powder.
I also like that it’s quite light/translucent so whatever product is underneath it can peep through. That also means it’s not heavy on coverage…lol.
It also does not settle into fine lines, which is great.
It is also great for flash photography and does not give off a white cast.
For darker skin tones? I think it is translucent enough to suit deeper skin tones and has just enough yellow to brighten that under eye area.
Comparisons
I have used both the Makeup Revolution Banana powder and the Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder so I would like to compare them to this powder.
The Sacha Buttercup is the most finely milled, shade-friendly and most translucent of all the three powders.
It falls in between the Makeup Revolution one and the Black Opal one in terms of how mattifying it is, with the Black Opal being the most mattifying.
If you want the Sacha effect but don’t want to spend as much, you should try out the Makeup Revolution setting powder. I wouldn’t call it a dupe(it isn’t). It is very finely milled but is not as mattifying and has more white tones in it(hence darker skin tones or oily people may not like it as much).
Verdict
I love this powder. It is a super beautiful finely milled setting powder that would suit a variety of skin tones of WOC.

Such a nice and detailed review. I use the makeup revolution banana powder. I mix a little bit of the black opal finishing powder in dark with it to tone it down and make it friendly on my dark skin. Thanks so much for this lovely review ❤❤😍😍

Thank you, Amaka! Have you tried the Makeup Revolution Banana Powder? It’s about N4000 and it’s quite good…
Also watch out for blog sales from beauty bloggers, to buy some of these things at cheaper rates(they’d have been used though)..

I own this powder, personally I’m not a fan of it on my skin tone I find it washes me out. I’m like a MAC NW47 for shade reference. I jumped on the sacha train and that’s how i got to own it. I prefer to use the ben nye powder in the shade topaz as that has more orange in it & suits me better. However sometimes I mix topaz & sacha together to get some use out of it

Hi!
Do you use it as a setting powder for your whole face? It would wash you out if you do..I only use this to set my highlight. I’ve never used any of the Ben Nye products but I hear the yellow one doesn’t work for flash photography.
Thanks for stopping by! 😘

yes i do use black opal in dark to set my whole face & a MAC for my contour and used the sacha on my highlighted areas. The Ben Nye banana is the one you’re referring to. I have also used another one from them in a shade called Dolce and that didn’t work for flash photography either imo. It seems that when one uses a shade too light from ben nye it works against you but my topaz performs beautifully to me with no flash back
