This is another skincare post(yes, yes!)I have had these posts piled up for quite some time. It was time I stopped dragging my arse.
Today’s post is another Ordinary post, a review of the Azelaic Acid suspension, which I have been using for a while.
Found in grains, Azelaic Acid is produced naturally by yeast that lives on normal skin. It brightens the skin tone while visibly improving the evenness of skin texture and reducing the look of blemishes. It is a multi-functional support ingredient for all skin types and also acts as an effective antioxidant. This formula offers a very high 10% concentration of high-purity Azelaic Acid in a lightweight cream-gel system.
Apply to face AM and/or PM to improve visible brightness and the appearance of skin texture. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Use sun protection during the day.
This product comes in a 30ml squeeze tube(quite different from the dropper packaging I’m used to).
It has a gel-like to cream consistency and is white in colour. It applies well, despite its thick consistency and sinks into the skin without leaving a cast.
I started using this product because my skin looked dull and tired(that’s what happens when you live and work in a traffic-congested city like Lagos). This helped a lot with brightening my skin.
My skin looked glowy and healthier after about 2 weeks of continued use. The areas of hyperpigmentation on my face were reduced also. I cannot comment on whether it helped with texture(as I do not have textured skin). I loved how my skin looked clearer afterwards.
However, I wouldn’t advise you to use this if you have sensitive and/or acne-prone skin. First, it tingles a bit on application. The second and more important reason is that it may cause and/or exacerbate fungal acne in acne-prone, oily or sensitive skin. This is due to the high concentration of yeast(which is what azelaic Acid is got from).
**I didn’t have any problems with it but my sister who has sensitive and oily skin developed a bout of acne on her face after repeated use. I just thought it would be important to put this out there.
I liked this serum a lot for brightening my skin. It made my skin look healthier and clearer.
However, I think people with acne-prone, oily and sensitive skin should skip this product.

“I truly believe that women should be financially independent from their men. And let’s face it, money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define value. They define what’s sexy. And men define what’s feminine. It’s ridiculous.” – Beyoncé
