I hope you’re all doing great!
In today’s post, I will be reviewing a book(yes, you heard right), a book.
It’s been 3 years since I started blogging and I’ve gotten numerous questions on all my social media pages on how to achieve several aspects of a makeup routine.
I will be discussing the ebook “Makeup Tutorial Booklet for Beginners”, a beginner’s guide to makeup.
The Makeup Tutorial Booklet for Behinners is a 65 page booklet written by Idowu Omowunmi, a self taught makeup artist in Lagos, Nigeria.
This ebook contains basic introduction to makeup in general, makeup glossary, common makeup tools and their uses, and also makeup how to’s with practical video examples.
The first thing that caught my eye about this book was the utter simplicity of the book design. The “no fuss” yet bold red print for the chapter titles and black print for text makes it easy to read. In other words, it is not an intimidating book.
It contains a glossary as its initial chapter, which is thoughtful and so important. The glossary contains the meanings of commonly used terminology in makeup like baking, colour correcting, cut crease, matte, transition shade etc.
The next chapter has a list of products you will need to achieve a full face beat in their different forms and their functions.
The rest of the book gives a thorough step-by-step guide on achieving good brows, a flawless foundation finish, a simple eyeshadow look and applying lipstick with links to videos attached.
There is also a disclaimer(extremely important) that states that the book is not a substitute for formal makeup training and is non-exhaustive as trends and products change.
I really really like this book. It was the book I wish I had 5 years ago, when my makeup game was struggling(when my foundation was ghostly and my brows were terrible)…lol. It is an easy and well-written read, all-encompassing without being too wordy and even funny in some chapters.
I think everyone will gain something from it, both beginners who are so confused by the intimidating world of makeup and OGs, who just want to brush up on certain skills.
Price: Oh, did I mention that it is FREE? Yes, it is!
Where to get it: You can get it here. You can thank me later!
